A strong upper level system moved through the Eastern United States late Tuesday into early Wednesday. The associated surface low pressure system pressed north northeast from the Lower Mississippi across the Mid South on its way across the Lower Ohio Valley.

Heavy rain of 5 to 10 inches caused flooding on many rivers, including the Bogachiel, Nooksack, Samish, Skagit, Skokomish, Stillaguamish Rivers. There was urban and small stream flooding as well. The heavy rain also triggered landslides throughout the area.

Half-inch hail was reported on the southside of Tuscaloosa near intersection of 82 and 20. A transformer was reportedly blown off a power pole at the airport. Quarter to half-inch hail was reported in Abernant.
The thunderstorm that produced the tornado formed along a squall line moving southeast across the area. Damage path consisted of numerous snapped and fallen trees. Twelve mobile homes were severely damaged from fallen trees and one mobile home was pushed off its foundation.

Heavy rains over San Bernardino county caused sand and rock debris to wash across roadways in Phelan, Pinon Hills, Oakhills, El Mirage, and Victorville. Heavy rains were also attributed to a traffic accident on Interstate 10 near the Live Oak Canyon Road exit.
About 23 homes in Ceiba, Santa Maria neighbourhood, were damaged by mud and water.

Most of Oklahoma had a white Thanksgiving morning on November 28th, 1968. Snow accumulations of one to two inches occurred along a 130-mile-wide band from southwest to northeast Oklahoma. Amounts of up to three inches covered parts of Jefferson, Love, and Carter Counties. The one-to-two-inch snow cover in Oklahoma City provided the first white Thanksgiving since 1958. Snow did cause holiday traffic problems early on, but melted during the day.

Two cars collided in near white out conditions from a brief heavy snow shower in Sun Valley (just northeast of Reno). The occupants only suffered minor injuries.
Light snow fell Thanksgiving Day, one of the busiest travel days of the year. Although only 1 to 2 inches fell across the region, there were hundreds of traffic accidents and many injuries. Interstate 78 in Lebanon County was closed for hours.

Two men were transported to the hospital after being shocked by a lightning strike outside a Tyler store (The Christmas Store and Partly Place at 1910 Roseland Blvd, part of Bergfeld Center). Both men were treated and released at East Texas Medical Center.
Dense fog, combined with smoke, contributed to a 13 vehicle pileup on Interstate 10 near Grand Bay. Light fog was locally enhanced by smoke, resulting in very low visibilities.
A large, long period west swell reached the beaches of Southern California early on the 28th. Waves of 7 to 9 feet with some sets as high as 12 feet were reported. The swell and surf quickly subsided overnight. Two boats were capsized in the high surf, trapping 6 people.
Patchy dense fog developed on the morning of the 28th across south-central Mississippi. A vehicle accident on I-55 north of Brookhaven resulted in one fatality. Dense fog in the area was cited as a contributor to the accident.

A family of four were swimming at Ormond Beach when they got pulled into a rip current. Three of the family members escaped the pull and returned to shore, but a 7-year old boy drowned.
