A long duration late fall snowstorm developed across southern Minnesota late Friday night and spread northeast over the course of Saturday morning. The snow fell for around 24 to 32 hours, staying mostly light to moderate rates. The greatest snowfall amounts were reported across southern Minnesota, topping out around 8 to 12 inches. The Twin Cities metro generally received anywhere from 3 in the northern suburbs to 6 in the southern suburbs, which was topped off by a last minute burst of heavy snow for a few hours Sunday morning.
Breezy winds at the end of the event meant blowing and drifting snow made it hard to get accurate measurements. The main impact from this storm was difficult travel for the weekend following Thanksgiving.
