On Sep 30, a short wave moving from the plains into south central Canada brought a warm front into Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Scattered thunderstorms developed along the front, with several of these storms becoming severe.
Severe thunderstorms developed in unstable air in the vicinity of an east to west warm front that stretched across northern Wisconsin. These storms produced large hail, wind damage and two tornadoes.

Hurricane Inez crossed the coast near Santiago de Cuba, Santiago de Cuba Province, Cuba as a category 3 hurricane, 100 kt (115 mph). A long-lived tropical cyclone, Juliette originated from a tropical wave that exited western Africa, the same wave that earlier spawned Atlantic Tropical Depression Nine near Nicaragua on September 19.

Very gusty winds developed over the North Carolina Piedmont as Tropical Cyclone Ian made a second landfall as a minimal hurricane near Myrtle Beach during the afternoon of the 30th.

A cold front moved across southern New England bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and periods of coastal flooding along the south coast.
Deep tropical moisture was drawn north across the region in advance of a slow moving cold front while low pressure lifted north along the front. In addition to the tropical moisture...a strong low level jet provided additional Atlantic moisture.
A coastal storm dropped 4 to 6 inches of rain in a short period of time. This caused Currier Brook to rise rapidly, overwhelming a box culvert which carried the brook under Skowhegan Plaza. The fast-flowing water destroyed the parking lot and adjoining roadway.
A slow-moving cold front approached upstate New York from the Great Lakes on Tuesday, September 29th.
Low pressure tracked northeast along a stalled frontal boundary along the coast. Gale force southeasterly winds combined with the highest astronomical tides of the month to produce coastal flooding across the southwest coast of Maine.

Low pressure raced east from the Great Lakes bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms to Southern New England on the morning of Saturday the 30th. Several of the showers in Eastern Massachusetts contained locally heavy downpours, and one contained large hail.
Deep tropical moisture started to spread north and into far southeast California during the day on September 30th; the moisture spread into the area ahead of Hurricane Rosa and led to the development of isolated thunderstorms.

Police responded to the beach after a call was received by 9-1-1 of a swimmer in distress and found bystanders giving CPR to a man on the beach. After being transported to a local hospital, the man later died. The cause of death was reported as a drowning.

A 21-foot aluminum boat exited the Superior Entry and entered Lake Superior the morning of the 30th. Waves of 2 to 4 feet swamped the boat and then capsized it, sending the three occupants into the water.
