September 2000 continued the trend of unseasonably wet weather for the southern two-thirds of New Jersey. The heaviest rainfall totals fell in a swath from Salem County northeast to Ocean County. On a county weighted average, September monthly rainfall totals ranged from 4.8 inches in Cape May County to 7.7 inches in Camden County. Normal monthly rainfall is around 3.6 inches. At the Marina within Atlantic City, the monthly rainfall total of 6.42 inches was the 9th wettest September on record. Monthly rainfall was around average for the northern one third of New Jersey.
