September 2000 continued the trend of unseasonably wet weather for southeast Pennsylvania. The heaviest rainfall totals were along the Delaware River and New Jersey border. On a county weighted average, September monthly rainfall totals ranged from 5.1 inches in Bucks County to 9.4 inches in Philadelphia County. Normal monthly rainfall is around 3.9 inches. At the Philadelphia International Airport, the monthly rainfall total of 7.95 inches was the 7th wettest September on record. Monthly rainfall was slightly above average in Berks County, but was below average in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos.
