Western and central New York was drenched with unprecedented January rainfalls over a 36 hour period. All of the region received between two and four inches of rain...rain which fell on bare, saturated ground.
From January 8 to January 12, the Hudson River flooded from its headwaters to where it crosses into Greene and Columbia Counties, due to a combination of significant rain and snowmelt.
An emergency spillway on a small dam at the Archusa Water Park failed and sent flood waters down the Chickasawhay river. Water got up around fifty homes, but only twenty five homes were flooded.

A severe thunderstorm affected the National Tropical Botanical Garden near Kalaheo and Lawai on Kauai. Storm winds damaged several buildings' roofs on the property and some of the prized horticulture. However, no serious injuries were reported.

An elderly woman froze to death in her home. There were evidently no utilities on in the home and the temperature fell to 20 degrees inside. Overnight temperatures fell into the mid teens across the area for two consecutive nights.
Very strong winds and extremely cold temperatures dropped wind chills to colder than 80 below zero at times. The strong winds also caused blowing and drifting snow which made travel trecherous. One man died when his vehicle became stuck in a snow drift.

Breakers between 8 and 15 feet continued for several days. Beach erosion and minor flooding occurred from Mission Beach to Imperial Beach. A 20 foot boat was slammed onto the jetty at the Oceanside Harbor entrance, and a surfer was trapped in a sea cave along Sunset Cliffs.
Dense fog formed along the Great Salt Lake during the morning commute, causing a 59 car pileup between the Salt Lake International Airport and Saltair. Amazingly, there were no fatalities, but 14 people were injured and taken to local hospitals.
There were a couple reports of damage as a cold front moved through the area.
