An exceptionally strong westerly jet-stream aloft, and a deep upper-level trough of low pressure off the coast, steered a barrage of weather systems through southern California for several days. The action started off with high winds and then heavy rain on the sixth.
F1 tornado touched down near 321 Pear Tree AVE. Several trees were downed and a wooden storage shed was destroyed. Two mobile homes and a RV were extensively damaged.

Runoff from heavy rains and melting mountain snow caused major floods upon many northern Oregon rivers. The first rivers reached flood stage on the morning of February 6th while the heaviest rain was still falling.
An area of 2.5 to 6 inches of rain fell over a portion of southwest and south central Missouri. The heaviest rain fell in eastern Douglas and Texas Counties. Numerous roads were closed due to high water.Three cars were swept off of low water crossings in Texas County.

Doppler radar estimated 3 to 7 inches of Rainfall across Jefferson County in a short period of time. Five Mile Creek rose out of it's bank and caused significant flash flooding in Brookside. Up to 30 homes were flooded.
By 730 AM, the combined effects of rain, snow melt, and ice jam movement flooded basements in southern Allegheny County; and near Everson in Westmoreland Co. By 810 AM, Armstrong, Beaver, and Butler counties reported widespread flooding.
Rain, snow melt, and ice jams flooded some streams and some roads. At 725 AM, in Harrison Co, Route 51 was closed between Bowerston and Scio.
Flooding occurred over Low Gap Road in Martin County. A 46 year old male drove his van into the flood waters. The vehicle appeared to have hit the strong current causing the vehicle to be swept down stream over 100 yards.
A strong winter storm finally impacted California following up on nearly a month and a half of no rain and the driest January on record. The storm brought heavy rain, gusty winds, and damage to trees and power lines along with some minor flooding of urban areas.
Floodwater from the Duckabush River has inundated a number of homes on Kelly Road in Brinnon. At one point, the Duckabush River was five feet higher than normal. Friday afternoon it started to recede.

A cold front extending from the Texas coast to the southern Appalachians experienced little movement as low pressure systems moved northeastward along the boundary. This resulted in heavy rainfall of 5 to 6 inches across most of area.

A deep-layered trough along with several frontal boundaries was approaching the Caribbean Islands in the first week of February. The winds became light and from the south-southwest, pulling plenty of moisture from the Caribbean Sea.
Showers first entered into West Virginia on the evening of February 5th as a disturbance skirted by to the south. Precipitation continued into the next day, in addition to a few severe thunderstorms that developed ahead of a cold front in the early afternoon.

Another unusual damaging wind event occurred in the town of Gabbs ... just three days after the previous event. The Gabbs Fire Dept. reported southeast winds again gusting to over 80 mph with several power poles and trees down.

A group of 4 college students were caught in an avalanche which was triggered by one of the skiers while traversing a slope just below the summit on Cumberland Pass, which is about 25 miles east-northeast of Gunnison in the Sawatch Mountain Range.
Four individuals were buried while sledding outside their lakeside cabin near the Sugar Bowl ski resort. Three of the individuals were able to dig themselves out and only sustained minor injuries. The fourth died of cardiac arrest after being trapped in the snow for six hours.

A quick moving winter storm brought a period of light to moderate snow to the northern half of Oklahoma during the morning of the 6th in 2003. Areas north of Interstate 40 received an average of 1 to 2 inches of snow. However, a narrow band of 4-to-6-inch accumulations affected northwest and west-central Oklahoma. Thomas, in Custer County, received 6 inches, while Fargo, in Ellis County, received 5.5 inches.

A woman died in a car crash during the predawn hours of Thursday, February 6th, 2014 when the SUV she was driving hit a patch of ice around the 6 mile marker of Hwy 476 in the Clayhole community. Her car struck a tree and went into the creek that runs along the road there.

A 55 yer old women died of hypothermia after leaving a bar in Frazer, Montana when it closed. The temperature was around 2 below zero at the time.
An 87-year-old woman died of hypothermia during the morning of the 6th in the Hatboro section of Upper Moreland Township. The woman fell down and was unable to rise. She succumbed to the cold overnight. The overnight low at the Willow Grove NAS was 31 degrees.
On this date in 2020, Oklahoma saw the coldest temperatures for that year. As arctic air spread over the region in the days prior, clear skies and light winds on the early morning hours of the 6th brought widespread single and teen readings. The coldest site was Tipton, in southwest Oklahoma, where the low temperatures fell to 1 degree above zero Fahrenheit.

The combination of dense fog and smoke from a nearby 3,500 acre wildfire caused localized visibility to be reduced to near zero along a dip in U.S. Highway 27 between two hills over extreme northeast Polk county.
Lightning struck a manufactured home and started a fire. The home burned down before the fire could be put out. No one was injured.
A 55-year-old man was fishing in fairly calm waters off the Agat Marina in southwestern Guam when a large wave upended the 14-foot motorboat he was in. He died of a broken neck, apparently caused by whiplash as the boat was suddenly overturned.
