Levee Breached along Arroyo Mocha (a dry Creek) and caused damage to roads and property
Heavy rain and some wet snow in combination with the leftover heavy snowfall from the end of January resulted in the roof of a recycling center to collapse near Princeton. Two men were crushed to death when the roof fell on them.
Flooding across portions of the Motherlode closed roads. Especially hard hit on the 2nd and 3rd, Amador County was declared a disaster area by the 3rd with 3 homes flooded.
From Garzas Creek, flooding damaged 2 structures and 2 chicken farms by 0630 PST. Over 100K head of poultry died at this location 4 miles west of Gustine in West Merced County. By 1015 PST, 5 structures were flooded in Gustine from Garzas Creek.
A strong slow-moving winter storm moved from the Gulf of Mexico north through the Carolinas on the 3rd and 4th, bringing with it heavy rain, snow and high winds. Snow accumulated between 1 and 3 inches across the higher elevations of the mountains by early afternoon on the 3rd.

Strong gradient winds, enhanced by local terrain, produced damaging winds in northwest Nye County in the small town of Gabbs. One resident with a home weather station recorded sustained winds of 65 mph before his equipment was blown away.
A strong cold front brought high winds that blew down a tent at the annual Tucson Gem show causing around $95,000 in damage to gems and jewels. The winds also damaged power lines between Vail and Marana leaving customers without power for up to four hours.

On this date in 1972, a snow and ice storm dumped up to 3 inches of wintry precipitation over Oklahoma. Many schools were closed, and numerous traffic accidents were reported. In northwest Oklahoma, some Ellis County residents were left without power.

Two sisters were killed in a two vehicle accident north of Decorah (Winneshiek County) on February 5th. Roads were still partially snow covered from snow that fell two days earlier on February 3rd.
A vehicle lost control on ice-covered Interstate 35 and rolled in the median near Cloquet about mid morning. A male who was not wearing a seat belt was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a few days later.

Artic airmass encompassed entire CWA of NWSO CHS, causing record low temperatures. Also, this airmass produced measurable snowfall up to one inch in southeast Georgia. This unusual event contributed to numerous minor accidents.
A bitterly cold Arctic airmass combined with 15 to 20 mph winds produced wind chill equivalent temperatures in north Georgia between 5 above and 10 below zero on the afternoon of the 3rd. By the morning of the 4th they ranged from 5 below to 25 below.
