On this date in 1949, an F3 tornado moved across Harper County in northwest Oklahoma. The tornado cut a damage path through more than a dozen farms, from north of Rosston to near the Kansas state line. Two people were injured when a gas station and home were destroyed.

Around 415 AM CST...a tornado (F1) touched down in Saraland, near the Walmart Superstore. The roof of the store was damaged. The tornado then skipped across Industrial Parkway and touched down again on Sheldon Beach Road near Goldenrod.

The Passaic Flood in Northern New Jersey, in the Passaic river valley, began on October 9, 1903, and lasted through October 11. Slow-moving remnants of a tropical storm triggered the flood.

Between 7 and 10 inches of rain fell in less than 6 hours, resulting in widespread and serious street flooding in the Franklin area. Over 20 homes and businesses had water enter them.
Around 6 to 8 inches of rain fell in less than 2 hours, causing significant flooding to sections of Beaumont. Water entered homes, vehicles were left stranded on the roads, but fortunately no injuries or deaths were reported.
