A tornado first touched down just south-southwest of Marion Junction in northern Dallas County and travelled east-northeast before ending in the northeastern part of the county. The tornado touched down initially in a rural area composed of fields with scattered houses.

Heavy rains caused flash flooding along Buck Creek in Pelham and Alabaster, flash flooding in Columbiana primarily resulting in road closures, along Cahaba Valley Road between US 280 and Interstate 65, and along a section of the Cahaba River in Shelby County.
This devastating flooding continued into April, and in some cases worsened. Western and central North Dakota experienced a snowy winter of 2008-2009.

What was believed to be a downburst produced a damage path about two miles long through the Smiths community (also known as Smith Station) in southeast Lee County. The damage path extended from about 2 miles west of Smiths into the central section of Smiths.
Strong wind with the thunderstorm that had already produced three short track tornadoes across southern sections of the city of Montgomery cut a swath of damage that extended to the southeast.

In Oklahoma City, three of the five greatest monthly snowfalls ever recorded were in March. The March 1924 amount of 20.7 inches is the greatest monthly snowfall ever recorded in Oklahoma City.

A winter storm formed over the Carolinas and tracked up the coast, bringing heavy snow to central New York. Snowfall accumulations ranged from 6 to 12 inches by the time the snow tapered off on the evening of the 7th.
Low pressure deepened rapidly as it passed across Pennsylvania and drew cold air southward changing rain over the area to heavy, wet snow. Totals ranged from six to nine inches near Lake Ontario to five to seven inches across metro Buffalo and the western Finger Lakes.
A winter storm affected parts of southeast Wyoming, with a total of 11 inches of snowfall reported in Rawlins, 10 inches at Lusk and Hanna, and 8 inches of snowfall was reported across Platte county.

A strong low pressure center and tight pressure gradient and eventually a deeply mixed boundary layer produced strong surface winds. Winds also were very strong behind the associated cold front late in the day on the 6th. Winds picked up again on the 7th fanning residual fires.
A tight pressure gradient ahead of a strong storm system produced high winds across portions of Central Kansas during the morning of March 6th, 2017. The highest winds in excess of 50-55 mph occurred across Central Kansas, near Russell, Kansas and Wilson, Kansas.
