A tornado touched down in rural areas near Hammon, Oklahoma on this date in 1967. A woman and four children were killed on a farmstead several miles east of Hammon. The storm was accompanied by hail 3 to 4 inches in diameter. Total damage from the tornado and the hail was over a quarter million dollars. The tornado was one of at least a dozen that occurred across western and central Oklahoma that day.

A 10-year-old boy who was swimming with his family drowned after getting caught in a rip current with his sister in the beach near Martin Luther King Boulevard in Atlantic City (Atlantic County) during the evening of the 10th. His sister was rescued from a jetty.

Emergency crews reported three swimmers entered the water on J.P. Luby Beach just before 5 PM on the 10th when they began to struggle near the Packery Channel north jetty. One swimmer, a 26-year old male, went missing. His body was recovered on the following day.

Two women from Fremont died after being swept out to sea on June 10 at Yellowbank Beach around 2 miles southeast of Davenport. The women were believed to be swimming when an incoming tide caught them unaware. Rescue swimmers were called out and pull them onto the shore.
