A Bermuda high pressure system anchored along the western Atlantic Ocean gave the greater Philadelphia Metropolitan a hot and humid weekend on the 10th and 11th. Temperatures reached as high as the mid 90s. Cloudiness preceding a backdoor cold front prevented temperatures from reaching the 90s again on Monday the 12th. The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging received over 100 calls on Saturday the 10th and how to deal with the hot weather. There was one heat related death within the city. A 76-year-old man was found dead in his home on the 12th. A fan was on, but the windows were shut. The highest temperatures included 97 degrees at the Franklin Institute within Philadelphia, 96 degrees in Crum Creek (Delaware County), 95 degrees in Neshaminy Falls (Bucks County) and West Chester (Chester County), 94 degrees at both the Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport and 92 degrees in Pottstown (Montgomery County).
