Back in 2020, a historically significant ice storm struck Oklahoma in several waves from October 26th through the 28th. The hardest hit areas extended from just north of Lawton, to the western sides of the OKC metro, up to Enid, where as much as two and a half inches of ice accumulated. Widespread destruction of trees and powerlines was seen over these and many other areas, including most of the OKC metro and all the way up to northwest Oklahoma. Approximately 388,792 electric customers lost power according to the OK Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, which undoubtedly comes close to a million Oklahomans without power. Thousands were without power for several weeks.
