The episode as NWS SEW wrote it up.
40 mph winds with gust to 55 mph first blew through the Cascade foothills. After those easterly winds died down, southerly winds of the same magnitude blew through central Puget Sound. The easterly winds toppled a tree which killed a hiker and the southerly winds knocked out power to 50,000 homes. The strong southerly winds also knocked a few trees onto houses and closed a few roads for several hours.
8 high wind. Local standard time, as filed.
As the offices recorded each death: direct deaths were caused by the weather itself, indirect ones by something it set in motion.
