- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Texas, February 13 to 19, 2021A historic winter storm, that began on February 9th, 2021, continued to cripple the region through February 19th. One wave of winter precipitation moved across the region February 13-15th, with another round of snow and ice on February 16-17th.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Texas, February 13 to 15, 2021A series of weather systems brought several rounds of winter weather to South Central Texas from February 11 through February 18.
- Extreme Cold in Illinois, February 1 to 19, 2007High temperatures were below freezing for the first 18 days of the month. February 4th and 5th were the coldest with high temperatures at Chicago Ohare Airport of only 2 above on the 4th and 5 above on the 5th.

- Extreme Cold in Illinois, December 2 to 8, 2006After the winter storm brought several inches of snow to northern Illinois, cold temperatures settled across the area. Low temperatures on the morning of the 3rd, 4th and 5th were in the single digits.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Texas, January 23 to 28, 2026The only winter weather event of the season occurred January 23-25. A mix of sleet and snow fell across the region, but sleet was the predominant precipitation type.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Mississippi, January 24 to 26, 2026A historically damaging ice storm occurred from southwestern Mississippi northeast through the Delta region into North Mississippi.
- Extreme Cold in Illinois, January 22 to 25, 2008Very cold air moved across northern Illinois during the middle of January. Low temperatures at Chicago O'Hare Airport reached -4 on the 24th and -5 on the 25th. Five people died due to cold exposure.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Texas, February 12 to 16, 2021Record cold and windy conditions gripped Southeast Texas behind the passage of an Arctic front. The extreme cold and increased demand led to widespread power outages, loss of heat for many and led to the bursting of pipes with some losing water for many days.
- Extreme Cold in Ohio, January 30 to 31, 2019A strong low pressure system moved through the Great Lakes region on the morning of January 29 and departed into Canada.
- Extreme Cold in Delaware, February 5 to 6, 2007An arctic air mass that originated near the North Pole invaded Delaware on the 5th and 6th. The combination of the unseasonably cold air and gusty northwest winds produced wind chill factors as low as zero to 10 degrees below zero during the mornings of the 5th and 6th.
- Extreme Cold in Illinois, January 6 to 7, 2014An extremely cold arctic airmass settled over northern Illinois with minimum observed wind chills falling into the -40 F to -50 F range area-wide.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Tennessee, January 14 to 17, 2024An arctic air mass brought very cold air temperatures and sub-zero wind chills across West Tennessee during the January 14-17, 2024 timeframe.
- Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow in Texas, February 14 to 17, 2021A historic outbreak of arctic air resulted in record breaking cold temperatures during an extreme cold spell that lasted almost two weeks for some locations across the combined Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.
- Extreme Cold in New York, January 17 to 18, 2000An arctic cold front swept across the region during Sunday afternoon, January 16th.
- Extreme Cold in Texas, January 2, 2018Two persons were discovered deceased from hypothermia due to outdoor exposure to subfreezing temperatures.
- Extreme Cold in Kansas, February 6 to 18, 2021A historic cold outbreak overspread all of the Plains on February 6th and lasted through February 18th. A persistent Arctic airmass like this hasn't affected the region since the 1980s. There were days where the high temperature did not make it out of the single digits.
- Blizzard and Winter Storm in Ohio, December 23 to 24, 2022A long-duration, multi-faceted winter storm hit northern Ohio just before Christmas 2022 with extreme cold, strong winds, accumulating snow and extensive blowing and drifting of the snow that fell.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Texas, February 1 to 4, 2011A winter storm impacted west Texas during the pre-dawn hours of the 1st, and marked the onset of a prolonged outbreak of arctic air in the Southern Plains.
- Extreme Cold and Winter Weather in West Virginia, February 18 to 20, 2015In less than a week, a second arctic front swept through West Virginia during the early afternoon hours of the 18th. Snow showers formed ahead of the front.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Texas, January 16 to 17, 2018A significant cold front moved through North and Central Texas over the MLK Jr. Holiday weekend. This brought cold air into the region, along with several areas of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.
- Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow in Arizona, October 25 to 27, 2020A cold front bought very windy conditions and sharply colder temperatures along with areas of snow. Daytime temperatures were 20 to 25 degrees below normal.
- Extreme Cold in Pennsylvania, January 14, 2000One of the coldest air masses of the season worked its way into the Philadelphia region during the night of the 13th and morning of the 14th. The low temperature of 17 degrees at the Philadelphia International Airport was the lowest reading so far this winter.
- Extreme Cold in Michigan, December 3, 2002Temperatures across the state averaged well below normal the first week of December. Detroit tied a 131-year record low of 3 degrees Fahrenheit on the morning of the 3rd, while a temperature of -8 degrees Fahrenheit broke the record low in Flint.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in Texas, March 2 to 3, 2002A strong arctic cold front began moving into North Texas late night on March 1st, and through all of North Texas by mid morning on March 2nd. Light rain developed behind the front, and changed to a mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and snow as temperatures fell below freezing.
