- Extreme Cold in Georgia, April 9, 2000Following the strong cold frontal passage of the previous day, unseasonably cold air spread over north and central Georgia. Record low temperatures for the date were set or tied at all 4 of the major airports in north and central Georgia.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, June 7, 2000An unseasonably strong Canadian high pressure system settled over the state causing minimum temperatures to drop into the 50s over most of north and central Georgia.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, October 8 to 13, 2000A very large Canadian high pressure system settled over the southeastern United States following the cold frontal passage of the 6'th. This high pressure system brought unseasonably cold air to the state.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, December 1 to 31, 2000December 2000 was one of the coldest December's on record for much of north and central Georgia. In Atlanta, the monthly average temperature of 37.2 degrees F was the 4th coldest December on record, exceeded only in 1917 and 1935 with 36.2 degrees F and 1963 with 35.5 degrees F.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, September 26 to 27, 2001The first major Canadian high pressure system of the fall season brought record to near record low temperatures across much of north and central Georgia. Record low temperatures were recorded at Atlanta, Athens, and Columbus during the early morning hours of the 26th.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, October 27 to 31, 2001An unseasonably cold Canadian air mass invaded the southeastern United States behind a strong cold front which moved through the state early on the 25th. The heart of the cold air mass reached north and central Georgia on the 27th.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, February 26 to 28, 2002An unseasonably strong late season Arctic cold front raced through north and central Georgia during the mid-day and afternoon hours of the 26th on the heels of 20 to 30 mph northwest winds.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, March 1 to 5, 2002The second Arctic cold front to affect Georgia within a one week period surged through north and central Georgia during the morning and early afternoon of the 3rd.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, January 23 to 24, 2003A strong Arctic cold front sent temperatures to their lowest level in several years across north and central Georgia.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, January 11 to 19, 2003An extended period of below normal temperatures was observed as a Polar vortex in the northeastern United States provided a cold northwest flow to the region. A series of Canadian/Arctic air masses invaded the region during the period.
- Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow in Georgia, January 21 to 22, 2025A historic winter storm affected the tri-state area during mid January. A shortwave embedded within a larger 500mb trough dove south over Utah before sharpening and moving over the Four Corners region on the 20th.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, February 1, 2026An Arctic airmass descended upon the tri-state area during the early morning hours of February 1st. Actual low temperatures reached the upper teens to lower 20s in many location, but the combination of strong winds drove wind chills down into the single digits to lower teens.
- Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow in Georgia, January 31, 2026A winter storm impacted much of southeast Georgia with significant snow accumulations and very cold wind chill temperatures. An area of low pressure shifted off the Southeast coast while deepening, ushering in a very cold air mass across the region.

- Extreme Cold in Georgia, December 1 to 31, 2000December, 2000 was one of the coldest months on record for Northeast Georgia. Temperatures ran 6 to 8 degrees below normal for the month.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, December 23 to 24, 2022An arctic cold front swept across the northeast Georgia mountains during the morning of the 23rd and introduced the coldest air mass in more than 5 years.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, January 7 to 8, 2015A strong ridge of high pressure built in to the region behind a cold front ushering in very cold temperatures and moderate winds leading to sub-zero wind chill values in the North Georgia Mountains.
- Extreme Cold in Georgia, February 1, 2026Life-threatening cold that began during the afternoon of the 31st continued through the morning of the 1st across the high elevations of northeast Georgia.
