- Extreme Cold and Winter Weather in South Carolina, February 1, 2026A winter storm impacted much of southeast South Carolina with significant snow accumulations on January 31st along with very cold wind chill temperatures persisting into late morning February 1st.
- Winter Storm and Extreme Cold in South Carolina, January 10 to 13, 2011A low pressure system moved through the Gulf of Mexico and across northern Florida producing snow, sleet and freezing rain across the southeast U.S.
- Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow in South Carolina, January 31, 2026A winter storm impacted much of southeast South Carolina with significant snow accumulations and very cold wind chill temperatures. An area of low pressure shifted off the Southeast coast while deepening, ushering in a very cold air mass across the region.
- Extreme Cold in South Carolina, January 5, 2002A man found dead in an abandoned building on Nance Street had apparently died due to exposure, according to the coroner. The temperature that morning dropped to 26 degrees.

At the NWS office located at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, it was the coldest month on record since the NWS began official record-keeping in November 1962.
