- Extreme Cold in Alabama, January 24 to 25, 2003The coldest temperatures in 7 years occurred across much of North and Central Alabama and lasted for about two days. Early morning temperatures ranged from 2 to 10 degrees. The coldest temperatures were measured in outlying areas.
- Extreme Cold in Alabama, December 31, 2000A Birmingham man died Sunday morning from hypothermia after being found outside of the Norwood boarding house where he lived. The coroner reported that the man's body temperature was 77 degrees when he was found. The morning low reported at the Birmingham airport was 16 degrees.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Alabama, December 22 to 24, 2022Bitterly cold temperatures and wind chills arrived behind a very strong Arctic cold front. Wind chill values stayed zero or below for around 36 hours straight. In some cases, wind chills dropped into the -15 to -19 degree range for some locations.
- Extreme Cold and Cold in Alabama, January 20 to 22, 2025A cold wave resulted in temperatures and/or wind chills dropping to the +5 to -10 range at various times during the period from the 19th through the 22nd, mainly during the nighttime and early morning hours.

- Extreme Cold in Alabama, January 7 to 8, 2015An Arctic cold front pushed through the region on the afternoon of the 7th bringing gusty northerly winds of 20 to 30 mph. Temperatures fell through the 20s and quickly into the teens and single digits during the evening and overnight of the 7th.
- Extreme Cold and Heavy Snow in Alabama, January 21 to 22, 2025A historic winter storm affected the tri-state area during mid January. A shortwave embedded within a larger 500mb trough dove south over Utah before sharpening and moving over the Four Corners region on the 20th.
- Extreme Cold in Alabama, February 28, 2002The morning low temperature observed at the Huntsville International Airport was 18 degrees. This temperature established a new record low temperature.
- Extreme Cold in Alabama, February 1, 2026An Arctic airmass descended upon the tri-state area during the early morning hours of February 1st. Actual low temperatures reached the upper teens to lower 20s in many location, but the combination of strong winds drove wind chills down into the single digits to lower teens.
