The deadliest
- Flooding and Coastal Flood in New Jersey, October 28 to 31, 2012Post Tropical Storm Sandy was the costliest natural disaster by far in the state of New Jersey. Record breaking high tides and wave action combined with sustained winds as high as 60 to 70 mph with wind gusts as high as around 90 mph to batter the state.
- Heat in New Jersey, July 4 to 6, 1999A very strong and oppressive high pressure system that extended from the surface to aloft gave New Jersey a brutal heat wave that included the entire Independence Day weekend. There were seventeen heat related deaths and around 100 reported heat related injuries.
- Flash Flooding in New Jersey, September 1 to 2, 2021Post Tropical Cyclone Ida brought heavy rain to New Jersey on September 1. Rainfall totals were as high as 5 to 10 inches. The heavy rain caused significant flash flooding, mainly in the northern half of the state. It resulted in widespread property damage.
- High Wind in New Jersey, October 29, 2012Post Tropical Storm Sandy was the costliest natural disaster in Northeast New Jersey. Tropical Storm Sandy formed in the Caribbean Sea on October 22.
- Flash Flooding and Flooding in New Jersey, September 1 to 3, 2021Extremely heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Hurricane Ida overspread northeast New Jersey during the evening of September 1 and continued through the early morning hours of September 2.

- Hurricane and Tropical Storm in New Jersey, September 16 to 23, 1999Hurricane Floyd battered New Jersey (especially the central and northern thirds) on September 16th and brought with it torrential and in some areas, unprecedented and record breaking rains and damaging winds.

- Rip Currents in New Jersey, July 12 to 16, 2008Enhanced rip currents caused by swells from Hurricane Bertha resulted in three deaths along the New Jersey coast on the weekend of July 12th and 13th. The rip currents and strong surf caused many water rescues and led to bathing restrictions.
- Flooding and Heavy Rain in New Jersey, August 27 to 28, 2011Irene made landfall locally as a tropical storm around 900 am EDT August 28, 2011 over New York City. Irene then moved across Southeast New York and Western Connecticut before dissipating over Northern New England near the Canadian Border later that evening.
- Rip Currents in New Jersey, September 3, 2023Breaking waves around 3 to 5 feet, multiple swell groups from offshore Hurricane Franklin and Idalia, and a dominant long period onshore swell resulted in dangerous rip currents at the New Jersey shore. A HIGH risk for rip currents was in effect.

- Flooding in New Jersey, April 15 to 23, 2007A Nor Easter occurred during Sunday and Monday, April 15th and 16th. It brought heavy rain that caused widespread and significant river, stream, and urban flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas.
- Tropical Storm and Storm Surge in New Jersey, September 18 to 20, 2003Tropical Storm Isabel produced strong power outage producing winds, moderate tidal flooding along the Delaware Bay and the Delaware River and erosion and rough surf along the shore. Two deaths were directly attributed to the storm.
- Blizzard and Winter Storm in New Jersey, February 9 to 11, 2010For the second time within a week a major winter storm affected New Jersey. Blizzard conditions occurred at times across the extreme southern part of the state during the afternoon and early evening of the 10th.
