THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHARLESTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT TONIGHT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...S...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA
 
   ...BARBOUR COUNTY...HARRISON COUNTY
 
A BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS TRACKING FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST ACROSS
HARRISON AND BARBOUR COUNTIES AT 700 PM. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY
PRODUCE 0.75 TO 1.50 INCHES OF RAIN IN AN HOUR. THIS IS WELL ABOVE THE
AMOUNT OF RAIN THAT IS NECESSARY TO BEGIN FLASH FLOODING.
 
THE GROUND IS NEAR SATURATION AND THE INTENSE RAINFALL WILL RUN OFF
RAPIDLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVER UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
