AREAS AFFECTED...PARTS OF W CNTRL AND NORTHWEST TX

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 81...

VALID 190913Z - 191045Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 81
CONTINUES.

WW 81 WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH A NEW WW BY 10Z.

THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE MORE EXTENSIVE AND STILL EVOLVING
SOUTHERN PLAINS SQUALL LINE REMAINS QUASI-STATIONARY NEAR THE DRY
LINE ACROSS THE TEXAS SOUTH PLAINS. WITH THE MAIN UPPER JET STILL
DIGGING INTO THE LARGE-SCALE TROUGH OVER THE INTERMOUNTAIN
WEST...EASTWARD PROGRESSION WILL REMAIN SLOW. HOWEVER...MODELS
INDICATE THAT AN AXIS OF STRONGER MID-LEVEL HEIGHT FALLS WILL
GRADUALLY SHIFT EAST OF THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES THROUGH THE CENTRAL AND
SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS BY MIDDAY TODAY. A SMALLER SCALE IMPULSE IS
EVIDENT IN SATELLITE IMAGERY PROGRESSING THROUGH THE BASE OF THE
TROUGH...ACROSS NORTHERN MEXICO...AND IT APPEARS THAT THIS COULD
BEGIN IMPACTING THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AS EARLY AS THE 12-15Z TIME
FRAME. ONCE THIS DOES OCCUR...THE SQUALL LINE LIKELY WILL BEGIN
ACCELERATING EAST NORTHEASTWARD TOWARD WICHITA FALLS/ABILENE AND
PORTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS NEAR/NORTH OF SAN ANGELO...WHERE
BOUNDARY LAYER CAPE REMAINS MODERATELY LARGE...AND A 50-60+ KT
SOUTHERLY 850 MB JET WILL BE MAINTAINED. THIS ENVIRONMENT WILL BE
CONDUCIVE TO THE RISK FOR POTENTIALLY DAMAGING CONVECTIVE WIND
GUSTS...LARGE HAIL...AND PERHAPS ISOLATED TORNADOES.
