The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  Western Kansas
  Southwest Nebraska

* Effective this Saturday afternoon from 545 PM until Midnight
  CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Widespread damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts
    to 80 mph possible
  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
    inches in diameter possible
  A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Storms will continue to merge and organize into an intense
and well-organized line of storms as they move out of eastern
Colorado and the southern Nebraska Panhandle into western Kansas and
southwest Nebraska. Damaging winds can be expected this evening,
with significant wind gusts potentially in excess of 75 mph.
Isolated large hail is possible as well, and a brief tornado could
also occur, particularly with any line-embedded circulations.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 110
statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles northwest of
Goodland KS to 45 miles northeast of Hill City KS. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
