The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Mitchell County in western North Carolina...

* Until 930 PM EDT.

* At 532 PM EDT, Locally as much as 5 or 6 inches of rain may 
  accumulate along the Blue Ridge Parkway this evening with the 
  threat of flash flooding of small streams increasing from around 
  Spruce Pine to Bakersville.  Developing high water conditions on 
  many roads is also likely along with the threat of a few mud 
  and/or landslides.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Spruce Pine, Bakersville, B.R. Parkway-Little Switzerland To 
  Linville, B.R. Parkway-Craggy To Little Switzerland, Bandana and 
  Little Switzerland.
