The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Yancey County in western North Carolina...

* Until 900 PM EDT.

* At 458 PM EDT, Gauge reports indicate that rainfall was continuing 
  to pile up across the Black Mountains and throughout the 
  headwaters of the Cane and South Toe Rivers.  It possible that a 
  few locales could wind up with 6 or more inches across favorable 
  terrain in southern Yancey county.  Developing flooding is likely 
  by this evening within these drainages.  It is also possible to 
  see a few mud and/or landslides.


  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Gauges reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Burnsville, Mount Mitchell State Park, B.R. Parkway-Craggy To 
  Little Switzerland, Celo, Micaville, Busick and Green Mountain.
