- Hail in Wyoming, May 21, 2016An upper-level disturbance moved across Wyoming on the afternoon and evening of May 21. This disturbance combined with a jet streak and wind shear to form a supercell thunderstorm on the plains east of the Bighorn Range in Johnson County.

- Damaging Wind in Wyoming, May 21, 2016A severe thunderstorm tracked into northwestern Campbell County and then weakened. Wind gusts to 60 mph were reported in Spotted Horse.
- Tornado and Hail in Washington, May 21, 2016A fairly short-lived thunderstorm intensified quickly and spun up a brief EF0 tornado that quickly dissipated. Very heavy rain and some localized flash flooding occurred in downtown Kennewick with this storm.

- Tornadoes and Flash Flooding in Texas, May 22, 2016West Texas was under the backside of a ridge with a dryline across the area which provided lift. Good instability, moisture convergence, and high convective available potential energy was present along and to the east of the dryline.
- Tornado and Flash Flooding in Texas, May 22 to 23, 2016The first in a multi-day event produced widespread large hail, tornadoes, and flash flooding but the largest impacts were felt in the extreme southeastern Texas Panhandle.
- Tornadoes and Flash Flood in South Dakota, May 22 to 23, 2016A cluster of severe thunderstorms tracked slowly northeastward from Nebraska across south central South Dakota during the late afternoon and evening. Large hail and strong wind gusts were reported across Todd and southern Tripp Counties.
- Tornadoes and Hail in Kansas, May 22, 2016During the afternoon thunderstorms became tornadic across Kearny county. One tornado in particular became a very large wedge within just a minute as it moved west and then eventually north and east. It had random movement for a time.

- Hail in North Carolina, May 22, 2016A disturbance traversing the base of an upper level trough dropping southward into Central North Carolina during the evening resulted in a couple isolated thunderstorms. One of the isolated storms became severe, producing large hail.
- Hail in Oklahoma, May 22, 2016Thunderstorms with hail up to half dollar size moved into the Oklahoma Panhandle during the early evening of the 22nd. More widespread severe weather occurred just to the south across the Texas Panhandle.
- Tornado and Hail in Kansas, May 22, 2016During the evening a line of slowing moving storms produced a tornado near Lydia, KS. No damage was reported due to the tornado remaining over open country. The same line of storms also produced large hail up to half dollar size near Leoti.

The storms also produced heavy rain which caused flash flooding in the Platte area after midnight on May 23rd.

- Tornado and Flash Flood in Nebraska, May 23, 2016Several storms produced severe hail on this Monday late in the afternoon and into the early evening. Between noon and 1 p.m. CST, scattered showers developed over Webster and Adams Counties. There were a few embedded rumbles of thunder.
- Hail in Pennsylvania, May 23, 2016Shortwaves rotating around an upper low provided support for the development of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon of the 23rd. The best instability and moisture remained east of Pittsburgh, where a few storms produced penny to nickle sized hail.

- Hail in Maryland, May 23, 2016Circulation around an offshore flow produced showers and thunderstorms during the late afternoon and early evening hours on the 23rd. Some of these thunderstorms produced gusty winds and pea-sized hail, with at least one report of nickel-sized hail in Caroline County.
- Hail and Damaging Winds in Minnesota, May 23, 2016A cluster of thunderstorms developed between Redwood Falls and Willmar during the afternoon of Monday, May 23rd. A few of the storms became severe and dropped nickel to golf ball size hail from south of Willmar, to Buffalo. Even a large tree was blown down in Buffalo.
- Tornado and Flash Flood in Iowa, May 23 to 24, 2016Thunderstorms produced large hail at several locations in northwest Iowa during the late afternoon and early evening of May 23rd. The storms also produce damaging winds at one location, flash flooding at another, and an isolated tornado.
- Hail in Maryland, May 23, 2016A closed upper level low over the region triggered afternoon thunderstorms. Increased low level moisture and plenty of daytime heating led to marginal instability and with a low freezing level, the storms produced small hail.
- Hail in Texas, May 23, 2016An upper level trough was over the western part of the country. A surface trough was across the region with a dryline across the Permian Basin. Southerly winds east of the dryline allowed for a continued transport of moisture into the area.

- Tornadoes and Hail in Oklahoma, May 23 to 24, 2016Storms formed along a dryline in the panhandles on the 23rd. These storms slowly made their way into western Oklahoma and western north Texas late that evening.
- Hail in Oklahoma, May 23, 2016A supercell thunderstorm moved northeast into Beaver County during the evening of the 23rd producing hail up to quarter size. This storm weakened as it entered Oklahoma, and had produced hail as large as tennis balls just south of the state line.

- Flash Flood and Hail in Kansas, May 24, 2016A group of strong to severe thunderstorms that developed late the previous evening continued to produce large hail up to hen egg size and heavy rainfall during the early morning hours. The largest hail size reported fell in Oakley.
- Tornadoes and Hail in Colorado, May 24, 2016A long-lived supercell thunderstorm produced widespread wind and hail damage, and several tornadoes as it tracked east/northeast across eastern Colorado. The first tornado was reported in northeastern Adams County.
- Hail and Damaging Winds in Kansas, May 24, 2016A complex of thunderstorms pushed southeast out of Nebraska with mainly damaging wind gusts and a couple small hail reports. Later that evening, a secondary round of thunderstorms moved east across portions of the area with damaging wind gusts.

- Hail in Florida, May 24, 2016A frontal boundary stalled across South Florida, enhancing afternoon showers and storms along the east coast sea breeze. Numerous showers and thunderstorms developed, with the strongest storms producing large amounts of hail across Southern Miami-Dade County.

The first developed near Willimar and moved slowly east-southeast before dissipating in the southwest suburbs of the Twin Cities.

Thunderstorms developed in an unstable airmass with little to no steering flow, allowing them to sit and train over the same area. The city of Jonesboro was hardest hit.

- Damaging Winds in Wisconsin, May 24, 2016Isolated thunderstorms, in the vicinity of a weak stationary front, developed in north central Wisconsin and moved along the Wisconsin/Michigan border. The storms downed trees and power lines as they passed. Trees on power lines started fires at many locations in Florence County.

- Hail and Damaging Wind in Wyoming, May 24, 2016Thunderstorms developed over central Wyoming during the late afternoon of Tuesday, May 24, ahead of an upper-level low. The environment was favorable for gusty outflow wind as temperature-dew point spreads approached 40F.

- Hail in Nebraska, May 24, 2016A severe thunderstorm that had produced very large hail in Yuma county Colorado moved through Hitchcock and Dundy counties. The largest hail reported was quarter size in Palisade.

Around midnight, a strong squall line was moving out of western Nebraska into central Nebraska.
