This line produced golf ball sized hail near Wray before moving into extreme Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.

Despite a rather stable boundary layer, sufficient instability remained in pockets for damaging wind gusts to be realized at the surface.

In this case, there was weak northweserly flow aloft, and southeasterly flow at the surface, which resulted in a unstable and high shear environment.

• Flash Flood in Minnesota, August 5 to 6, 20231 eventAfter reports of over 3 inches of rain fell, water began to pool in urban areas in Cass and Clay counties. Numerous reports of flooding came in after an areal flood advisory was issued.
• Tornado and Damaging Winds in Nebraska, August 5, 202356 kt wind · 7 eventsClusters of thunderstorms developed in eastern Nebraska as a mid-level low moved across the northern Plains. An EF-U tornado was reported near Snyder with no known impacts or damage. The highest measured wind gust was 62 mph in Gage County.
