The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 264
continues.

SUMMARY...The severe/damaging wind gust threat continues across
Severe Thunderstorm Watch 0264 and is expected to persist through
the afternoon.

DISCUSSION...Multiple multicellular clusters/brief transient
supercells have progressed across portions of eastern OH into
southwestern PA and northern WV over the past few hours with a
history of damaging gusts and up to 1 inch diameter hailstones. The
ongoing storms are propagating southeast towards 85-90 F surface
temperatures, where over 3000 J/kg MLCAPE is in place (based on
modified 17Z RAP forecast soundings, valid for 19Z). As such, the
ongoing storms are expected to maintain intensity, with the severe
threat likely persisting for the rest of the afternoon.

Farther north, storms have struggled to become organized immediately
ahead of the cold front across northeast OH into northwest PA,
possibly due to subsidence behind an earlier, decaying MCS currently
located across central VA. This region is experiencing peak heating
and a severe threat may still potentially materialize.
