Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 251 AM MDT Sun Apr 2 2023 .DISCUSSION... First concern this morning is rain left behind by a departing frontal band will refreeze and cause hazardous driving conditions on area roadways. The biggest threat of this scenario is north of the Missouri River where a Winter Weather Advisory was issued by previous shifts to cover this hazard. Said Advisory was extended until noon today in case it took a little longer for roadways to warm back up and melt the ice. Second concern is strong winds advecting behind the front that moved through overnight. A High Wind Warning remains in effect for Petroleum, Little Rockies and Central & Southeast Phillips Counties. Use caution if driving the US-191 corridor as strong crosswinds will be a hazard to high profile vehicles. Lastly, wrap around moisture behind an upper level Low will bring a chance of light snow over the northern half of the area throughout the day. Accumulations are expected to be light so no headlines have been issued for these snow showers. Monday another trough moves in from the west bringing another storm system with it. At this time it looks like the main portion of this system will drop south of us but the northern reaches could make it into our southern counties and bring a few snow showers. The trough will once again draw in cold air and keep our temperatures a good 15 to 20 degrees below normal through Wednesday at which time the trough begins pulling east. By Thursday another ridge is expected to move toward the area which will warm things up toward the weekend although highs will still remain on the lower end of the normal range. -Bernhart && .AVIATION...
