  A Dam Failure on the Ashley Creek below Pelucia Control Structure 
  Dam Y-33-1 in...
  West Central Carroll County in north central Mississippi...

* Until 500 PM CDT Friday.

* At 500 PM CDT, emergency management reported the imminent failure 
  of Pelucia Control Structure Dam Y-33-1. There is a high 
  probability of failure within the next 12 to 24 hours.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding from the imminent
           failure of Pelucia Control Structure Dam Y-33-1.

  SOURCE...Emergency management.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas downstream
           from the Pelucia Control Structure Dam Y-33-1 along
           the Ashley Creek and Pelucia Creek

* The nearest downstream town is County Road 142 at MS Highway 17 
  south of Carrollton.

  Ashley Creek and Pelucia Creek below Ashley Creek.

The flood wave would move down the Ashley Creek from County Road 142 
at MS Highway 17 south of Carrollton to County Road 334.

If you live along Ashley Creek or along Pelucia Creek from MS 
Highway 17 westward, you should be prepared to move to higher ground.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FAILURE OF PELUCIA CONTROL STRUCTURE 
DAM Y-33-1 ON THE ASHLEY CREEK IS CANCELLED FOR WEST CENTRAL CARROLL 
COUNTY...

Flooding no longer poses a threat, as the dam breached around 9 PM 
Thursday night. The lake behind the dam is completely empty.  There 
were no reports of injuries or major damage.
