MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0746
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0345 PM CDT THU MAY 26 2016

AREAS AFFECTED...EASTERN TEXAS PANHANDLE

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 214...

VALID 262045Z - 262145Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 214 CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...THUNDERSTORM AND SEVERE POTENTIAL ARE GRADUALLY
INCREASING...AND A SMALL WATCH MAY BE REQUIRED BY EARLY EVENING.

DISCUSSION...VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY AND OBSERVATIONS INDICATE
TOWERING CUMULUS DEVELOPING ALONG A DRYLINE ON THE WESTERN FRINGES
OF THE DISCUSSION AREA. WHILE BOUNDARY LAYER MIXING HAS LOWERED
DEWPOINTS INTO THE 50S ACROSS THE REGION...BACKING OF LOW-LEVEL FLOW
EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING MAY ADVECT RICHER LOW-LEVEL AIR FROM
WESTERN OKLAHOMA /CHARACTERIZED BY UPPER 60S F DEWPOINTS/
NORTHWESTWARD INTO THE REGION. THIS...ALONG WITH AN INCREASING
SOUTHERLY LOW-LEVEL JET BENEATH 40 KNOT SOUTHWESTERLY MID-LEVEL
FLOW...WOULD FOSTER AN INCREASED TORNADO THREAT...AND NECESSITATE A
WATCH. TRENDS WILL CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED.
