AREAS AFFECTED...NERN KY...SWRN INTO CNTRL OH

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY

VALID 231646Z - 231815Z

A LINE OF SHALLOW CONVECTION AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT WILL BE CAPABLE
OF PRODUCING GUSTY WINDS THIS AFTERNOON. AT THIS TIME...LITTLE IF
ANY LIGHTNING IS ANTICIPATED WITH THIS ACTIVITY.

LATEST SFC ANALYSIS INDICATED A COLD FRONT STRETCHING SWD ACROSS FAR
ERN INDIANA INTO CNTRL KENTUCKY. SHALLOW CONVECTION HAS DEVELOPED
NEAR THE LOUISVILLE AREA WHERE TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN ABLE TO WARM
INTO THE MID AND UPPER 50S IN A CLEAR SLOT. THESE SHALLOW SHOWERS
ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE ALONG THE FRONT THIS AFTERNOON AS THE
SYSTEM TRACKS EWD INTO OH AND NRN KY. AS THE BACKGROUND LOW LEVEL
FLOW IS ALREADY STRONG /SFC-1 KM SHEAR 40-60 KT/...THESE SHOWERS
COULD AID IN PRODUCING STRONG SFC WIND GUSTS. DUE TO THE LACK OF
BUOYANCY /MLCAPE LESS THAN 250 J/KG ACROSS THE REGION/...UPDRAFT
STRENGTH IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE VIGOROUS ENOUGH TO SUSTAIN LONG-LIVED
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. ADDITIONALLY...WARM TEMPERATURES IN THE
700-600 MB LAYER WILL FURTHER INHIBIT UPDRAFT DEPTH. THUS...A WATCH
IS NOT ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER...CONVECTIVE TRENDS WILL
BE MONITORED.
