THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  700 PM EDT
FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN WEST PENNSYLVANIA
 
   ...ARMSTRONG COUNTY
 
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IS CONTINUING THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR
ARMSTRONG COUNTY. RAINFALL OF BETWEEN 3.50 AND 4.00 INCHES OF RAIN HAS
FALLEN OVER SOUTHWESTERN ARMSTRONG COUNTY. BUFFALO CREEK IS FLOODED IN
SOUTH BUFFALO TOWNSHIP ALONG IRON BRIDGE ROAD. THE BRIDGE ON IRON BRIDGE
ROAD IS FLOODED AND HOMES IN THE AREA ARE ALSO FLOODED. BUFFALO CREEK
WILL EMPTY INTO THE ALLEGHENY RIVER IN FREEPORT JUST SOUTH OF LOCK 5.
PEOPLE LIVING NEAR BUFFALO CREEK AND ITS TRIBUTARIES IN TOWNS LIKE
LANEVILLE AND FREEPORT WILL SEE FLASH FLOODING. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
 
DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.  THE WATER
MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT
IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
 
MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO CROSS BRIDGES OR LOW zSPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY
TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
