- Blizzard and Winter Storm in Montana, March 12 to 15, 2020This winter storm had a favorable combination of moisture and cold arctic air. An upper level low off the west coast extended a piece of energy into the region Friday through the weekend. This low provided ample pacific moisture and enhanced lift from an upper level warm front.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Montana, January 2 to 4, 2025An anomalously moist Pacific system interacted with an arctic air mass that gradually moved west across the Continental Divide. The higher impact area with the combination of precipitation and cold air ended up being across northwest Montana due to icy roads.
- Winter Storm in Montana, November 18 to 20, 1996Record heavy snow event with wind, that followed with areas of freezing rain throughout western Montana. By the afternoon of 11/18/96 Libby received 10 inches of new snow.
- Blizzard and Winter Storm in Montana, February 27 to 28, 2014A moist and warm air mass brought freezing levels up to between 6,000 and 7,000 feet MSL on Feb. 27 and brought freezing rain to western Montana.
- Winter Storm in Montana, November 24 to 25, 2015An arctic front passed through western Montana during a very busy holiday travel week, occurring on the days immediately preceding Thanksgiving. Strong winds, snow, blowing snow, and flash-freezing of roadways impacted most of the Northern Rockies.
- Winter Storm and High Wind in Montana, March 11 to 14, 2026An impressive, long-duration atmospheric river brought copious snowfall and high winds to western Montana. Some high-elevation areas received a few feet of snow. Impacts from this storm included power outages and impacts to travel.
- Blizzard and Winter Storm in Montana, December 12 to 13, 2008A strong arctic front pushed through western Montana, bringing a quick burst of snow, strong winds, and reduced visibility due to blowing and drifting snow. Snowfall accumulations ranged from 6 to 12 inches in most valleys, with up to 15 inches over higher terrain.

Whiteout conditions were reported early in the morning near the continental divide and continued throughout the day, closing several highways at times.

- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Montana, March 8 to 10, 2017A plume of moisture moved over central Idaho and western Montana causing heavy precipitation. Periods of moderate to heavy snow combined with slushy conditions to cause ice and very slick conditions on the morning of the 9th.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Montana, February 3 to 5, 2018Arctic air at the surface, combined with a moist flow off the Pacific, resulted in an over-running event which brought heavy snow across the entire Billings Forecast area.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Montana, November 4 to 5, 2022An atmospheric river of moisture brought heavy snowfall and slow travel to the region. A cold front brought high winds and power outages, followed by snow bands later in the day on the 5th.

- Winter Storm in Montana, October 10 to 11, 2016On Sunday, October 9th, a cold front advanced southward across north-central MT. Behind this front, easterly to northeasterly surface winds underwent orographic lift along the Rocky Mountain Front.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Montana, January 27 to 28, 2023Arctic air undercut a plume of anomalously high moisture to bring impacts from snow, flash freeze, and wind.
- Winter Storm in Montana, February 5 to 7, 2021An Arctic cold front came over of the Continental Divide and collided with an atmospheric river of moisture from the Pacific Ocean to produce widespread wintry impacts.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Montana, December 1 to 2, 2012Southwest flow brought above normal Pacific moisture impacting mainly higher elevations of the Northern Rockies where snow amounts between 5 to 8 inches fell.
- Winter Storm and Avalanche in Montana, December 30 to 31, 2011A strong flow of Pacific moisture impacted the west facing slopes of the Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains. This resulted in a period of heavy snow to end out the year, and in fact, was the only significant snow of the month.
