The airmass this front moved into was very moist with precipitable water values around 2.0 inches. Thunderstorms developed along the front and some produced heavy rain that led to flash flooding.

- Hail in Iowa, May 2, 2021A few evening thunderstorms developed along a cold front in portions of northwest Iowa. Fairly narrow CAPE profiles and lack of deep layer shear kept storms mainly disorganized, and the strongest updrafts resulted in some sub-severe hail.

Much of the region saw only rain showers, but one isolated cell in southern Kentucky was able to produce a short lived EF-1 tornado in the city of Tompkinsville, KY.
