.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Monday Night)
Issued at 246 PM CDT Sun Jun 11 2023
Looking for some convection to develop later today & tonight across
north Texas as daytime heating, dryline and weak shortwave energy
riding around the northern periphery of the ridge work their magic.
Vast majority of guidance has this activity dissipating before
making it into our CWA, but there are enough models suggesting a few
rouge remnants clipping n/ne parts of the region to keep at least a
mention of lowish POPs in the fcst until trends dictate otherwise.
Strong mid/upper ridging centered across central Mexico will
continue expanding eastward into the area. Heights will gradually
rise - as will temperatures. Heat index values in the 102-107 range
look to be the norm on Monday afternoon. This is below heat advsy
criteria so am not planning on issuing one attm (though things get a
bit more favorable as the days progress). Winds in the 10-15mph
range could make things less stagnant and somewhat more tolerable in
a relative sense.
Will again need to monitor potential convection upstream Monday
evening. It looks fairly similar to tonight...with slim chances of
surviving a trek into our CWA, but not enough to exclude in the
fcst across ne zones just yet.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through next Saturday)
Issued at 246 PM CDT Sun Jun 11 2023
Passing shortwaves should flatten the upper level ridge across the
Southern Plains/Mexico through at least midweek. That being said,
forecast soundings show robust subsidence from this ridge, with
global models depicting peak 500mb heights within the ridge reaching
594-595 dam. Even with a weak boundary draped across the ArkLaTex
region, the ridge should largely suppress rain chances throughout
the long term forecast. 850mb temperatures range between 21-28C with
NAEFS Mean 850mb temperatures still progged to exceed the 99th
percentile throughout most of the work week and into the weekend.
Persistent onshore flow will continue to supply ample moisture at
the surface, keeping dewpoints in the 70s. By midweek, southwesterly
flow should develop at 850mb, which may further enhance afternoon
heating. The upper level ridge should also amplify during the second
half of the weak, with the center of the midlevel ridge drifting
closer to SE Texas next weekend.
Overall, the "big picture" for SE Texas hasn't changed drastically.
Highs should be in the mid to upper 90s inland (threatening
triple digits) and lower 90s along the coast early next week, with
heat indicies ranging from 103-109 degrees. The heat should
continue to worsen through the end of the week, with highs on
Friday in the upper 90s to lower 100s and heat indicies ranging
from 108-115 degrees. Global ensembles indicate above normal
temperatures persisting beyond the end of the forecast, into
portions of the subsequent week. With dangerous, prolonged heat
expected for SE Texas, practicing heat safety will be especially
important. Stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities
whenever possible. Watch for signs of heat-related illnesses (in
pets too!) and look before your lock your car.

(06Z TAF Issuance)
Issued at 1147 PM CDT Sun Jun 11 2023
Convection is still trying to make its way south from Central TX
toward CLL (and maybe UTS) but it does appear to be weakening as
per radar trends. Will continue to keep precipitation out of the
TAFs for now. But high cloud blow-off from these storms could be
an issue for the development of patchy fog by early Mon morning.
After the fog burns off, VFR conditions are expected through the
rest of the day tomorrow. Winds to remain generally S/SW from 4-
8kts at night to 9-14kts during the day. 41

.MARINE...
Issued at 246 PM CDT Sun Jun 11 2023
Light to moderate onshore winds are expected to increase into next
week. Advisories may be needed for early Tuesday morning as winds
approach 20 knots and seas rise to 4 to 5 feet. Strengthened onshore
flow will warrant the need for caution flags at times, along with
bringing a higher risk of rip currents by mid week.
