.SYNOPSIS...Dry weather continues this evening before giving way
to a quick frontal system Sunday morning. Look for light showers
mostly north of I-80 with some breezy to gusty conditions to
follow. More activity on the way with a another system set to
arrive Tuesday that could have lingering effects into the mid-
week.

.SHORT TERM...Today through Sunday.

Dry weather continues through the day with latest satellite
imagery seeing clear skies over Northern and Central Nevada this
afternoon. However, these conditions are not expected to last much
longer as latest model agreement continues to see the propagation
of the closed upper-level low in the Pacific Northwest. By late
tonight look for winds to begin to pick in Humboldt County with
the approach of the system and its associate cold front. Showers
will look to follow soon after with snowfall looking to start
along the northern border early Sunday morning. Expect showers to
spread further south in the late morning to early afternoon.
However, latest agreement is still wanting to keep most showers
north of the I-80 corridor. Amounts wise, models and latest
guidance continues to trend on the lighter side for the system
with only parts of the Ruby Mountains and high elevations of
Northern Elko county getting any accumulation greater than an
inch. Meanwhile, lower elevation are looking for a dusting at best
with most model keeping values under half and inch.

While condition might be drier to the south, the frontal system
will still have impact on the entire region thanks to the winds.
Latest models as well as MOS guidance expect breezy to gusty
westerly wind to spread over the course of the day. Latest model
trends have kept the region below advisory criteria, but some
higher elevation passes could still gust well into 30 to 40 mph
range at times. Meanwhile at the lower elevations, blowing dust
may become a factor over the afternoon hours, especially further
south into Northern Nye County were winds will look to gust into
the nightly hours of Sunday. As for the rest of the region,
condition do look to quiet down in the late evening with the exit
of the frontal system. Temperature wise, the region does see a
slight cool off with the passage, but still expect highs in the
40s to low 50s for tomorrow. Overnights see a bit more of a drop
off with lows settling in the teens to low 20s Sunday night
compared to the mid to upper 20s seen tonight.

.LONG TERM...Monday through next Saturday.

Dry across the CWA on Monday as flat ridging builds in from the
west. High temperatures Monday will rebound back above normal
levels across western and central portions of the CWA, with low
60s for Winnemucca and upper 50s for Elko. However, the eastern
third of the CWA remains cool on Monday, with highs around 50 for
Eureka, Ely and West Wendover.

Weak trough energy approaching from the west will kick the flat
ridge off to the east, and begin to spread light valley rain and
mountain snow into Humboldt County Tuesday morning. By Tuesday
afternoon and early evening as the associated cold front slides SE
across the CWA, light shower activity will overspread most areas
along and north of the Highway 50 corridor. Snow levels Tuesday
and Tuesday evening (when most all precipitation occurs) are
expected to be near or above 7000 feet. QPF amounts across
Humboldt, Elko and northern Lander and Eureka look to be between a
trace and two tenths of an inch with this system. Across southern
Lander and Eureka Counties, as well as White Pine County, QPF
amounts are expected to be a trace up to five hundreds of an inch.
Mountains of Elko County generally above 7000 feet could see 1-4
inches of snow on Tuesday, otherwise few if any impacts are
expected. A few light showers linger into Wednesday across NE NV.

Dry across the CWA Thursday through at least Saturday morning as
high pressure rebuilds over the Great Basin region which will once
again send temperatures back above normal. Models are in decent
agreement that trough energy approaching the west coast will begin
to spread more showers into western NV next Saturday.

.AVIATION...Southerly winds become gusty late this afternoon and
evening at KWMC and KBAM, which may stir up dust and create hazy
conditions. By Sunday morning gusty westerly winds, along with
light rain or snow shower activity, will spread across all of
northern NV which may impact KWMC KBAM and KEKO through Sunday
afternoon. KELY and KTPH likely remain dry on Sunday, however
gusty northwesterly winds are expected at each of these terminals
by mid to late afternoon.
