NARRATIVE SYNOPTIC DISCUSSION FOR AMERICAN SAMOA AND THE INDEPENDENT STATE OF SAMOA TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY... A SURFACE RIDGE LIES OVER THE SAMOA ISLAND GROUP WHICH IS THE REASON FOR YOU LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS. THE AVN MODEL MOVES THIS RIDGE SLOWLY TO THE NORTH OF YOU OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THIS WILL GRADUALLY TURN YOUR WINDS TO A MORE NORTHWESTERLY DIRECTION BUT SPEEDS SHOULD REMAIN RATHER LIGHT. SOME HIGH CLOUDS ASSOCIATED WITH A FRONTAL SYSTEM WELL TO YOUR SOUTH MAY MOVE UP OVER YOU TONIGHT BUT SHOULD HAVE LITTLE IMPACT ON YOUR WEATHER. AN ISOLATED SHOWER IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY BUT ANY SHOWER ACTIVITY SHOULD BE LIGHT AND BRIEF. A SOUTH SWELL OF AROUND 4 FEET IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ARRIVING ON THURSDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY. OUTLOOK FOR SATURDAY THROUGH MONDAY... THE SURFACE RIDGE MOVES OVER YOU ON SATURDAY AND WILL BE SOUTH OF YOU ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY. THUS YOU CAN EXPECT GENERALLY FAIR WEATHER WITH A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS EXPECTED. WINDS WILL BE LIGHT AND VARIABLE ON SATURDAY TURNING TO THE NORTHEAST ON SUNDAY AND EAST ON MONDAY AT SPEEDS OF 10 TO 15 KNOTS. THE SMALL SOUTH SWELL WILL CONTINUE ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY BEFORE DECLINING ON MONDAY. NARRATIVE DISCUSSION FOR TUVALU TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY...TUVALU TIME... SATELLITE PICTURES SHOW ONLY ISOLATED SHOWERS OVER TUVALU MAINLY EAST AND WEST OF FUNAFUTI. THIS SHOWER ACTIVITY SHOULD GRADUALLY CONTINUE TO DIMINISH AS A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE MOVES OVERHEAD AND STABILIZES THE ATMOSPHERE. WINDS WILL BE LIGHT NORTHEASTERLIES AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS.
