A strong winter storm moved across the area during the weekend. While most areas picked up 4 to 6 inches of snow, it was combined with freezing rain and gusty winds to provide dangerous conditions. One traffic accident occurred during the storm and the winter conditions likely played somewhat of a role. This accident occurred in southern Fillmore county and involved at least 3 vehicles and 12 people. One person was killed and several were injured, mostly minor. Even with the dangerous driving conditions during the weekend, early forecasts of the storm likely helped keep motorist off the road during the height of the storm.
