High Wind in Alaska, March 10 to 11, 2001
A moderate front, moving north through the Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound Sunday morning, was preceded by east southeast wind gusts that briefly reached 60+ mph. Surface gradients suggest that strongest winds were likely around, and west of, Alyeska and across the upper Anchorage Hillside.

A moderate front, moving north through the Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound Sunday morning, was preceded by east southeast wind gusts that briefly reached 60+ mph. Surface gradients suggest that strongest winds were likely around, and west of, Alyeska and across the upper Anchorage Hillside. Winds peaked at 64 mph at Portage somewhere between 12:53 am and 1:41 am Sunday as the front approached.At Glen Alps, wind gusts of 60+ mph from 9 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday, peaking at 74 mph between 8 am and 9 am, several hours after frontal passage.
