SHOW BANDS OF PRECIPITATION ROTATING WESTWARD ACROSS THE STATE
UNDER INFLUENCE OF UPPER LOW OVER NORTHWEST ARIZONA. EAST WINDS ARE
INCREASING ACROSS SOUTHWEST WYOMING AND MOUNTAIN RIDGES OF NORTHERN
UTAH BUT WINDS AT THE LOWER ELEVATIONS HAVING A HARD TIME MOVING

Two snowmobilers were killed in an avalanche in the Uinta Mountains of Summit County near the town of Oakley. They were "high-marking" in an area of Upper Chalk Creek known as "the chutes". The two 29-year-old men were completely buried by the avalanche, estimated to be 900 feet long, 180 feet wide, and 12 feet deep.
As the offices recorded each death: direct deaths were caused by the weather itself, indirect ones by something it set in motion.
