Mammoth Mountain received 27" of new snow...Lodgepole 16"... with lesser amounts on the Yosemite Valley floor (4") and Heavy snowfall reported on Walker Pass by the California Highway Patrol. A Winter Storm Watch was posted as of 3/7/00 at 0400 PST; and converted to a warning at 3/7/00 at 1536 PST. This event was preceded by a weaker snow event that had prompted snow advisories late on the 5th. Mammoth Mountain had received 6" by 0600 on the 6th with 2" reported at low elevations at Springville and Squaw Valley. Travel was restricted over the Interstate-5 corridor into the LA Basin due to the low snow levels
