Strong winds buffeted northern Connecticut, as intensifying low pressure moved across southern Canada. High winds in Hartford County downed several large trees and tree limbs in Burlington, some of which were oak trees measuring 2 to 3 feet in diameter. One tree fell on a school bus transporting students, smashing the windshield. There were no injuries. Wind gusts were estimated to be near 60 mph. Strong winds in Tolland and Windham Counties resulted in scattered reports of downed branches and power lines. Winds gusted as high as 48 mph in Willimantic.
