An intensifying low moved from Shemya to Adak Wednesday, then turned east southeast to a position 150 miles south of Cold Bay Thursday morning as a 975 mb center. Very strong west to northwest winds were observed along the back side of the low. Gusts reached 69 mph at Adak as the low went by Wednesday, however much stronger gusts were recorded at the Dutch Harbor Spit mesonet site, where williwas coming down Mt. Ballyhoo produced winds to 88 mph Thursday between 3 and 3:30 pm AST.Winds finally diminished across the eastern Aleutians late Thursday as the low moved into the north Pacific.
