October 11, 1922, at 09:50 [local time]. Instrumental location 16 S, 72.5 W, magnitude 7.4, focal depth 50 km. The Lima Observatory recorded this movement at about 650 km SW of the capital. At Caraveli many houses collapsed, others were greatly damaged, and all the fences of the cemetery were destroyed; in the city of Arequipa it cause considerable damage, likewise in the port of Mollendo, Violent in Quicacha, Chala, Acari, Puquio, Palpa, Ica and Canete.
