A strong earthquake of magnitude 6 on the Richter scale scared the Arequipans this afternoon, which led to the release of rocks in the Panamericana Sur. The tremor leaves so far one mortal victim and several people injured. The regional governor of Arequipa, Yamila Osorio, reported the first victim and sent her condolences to the relatives. "One person is reported dead from a collapse on Secocha - Urasqui road (Camaná), and two were injured, and my condolences to the affected families," the regional authority wrote on his Twitter account. Victim is Wilfredo Campos (28), who was affected after the rock fall due to the Atico earthquake, according to INDECI. The earthquake had its epicenter in the sea, 44 kilometers deep, in the southwest of the Atico district in the province of Caravelí. The earthquake was recorded at 4:45 p.m., according to the report of the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP).(reference #11953)
