The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  East central into western New York
  Southern Vermont

* Effective this Wednesday morning and evening from 1145 AM until
  700 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms are expected to form and intensify
through the afternoon across New York, in an environment supporting
a mix of multicell clusters/line segments and supercells.  The main
threats will be damaging winds and isolated large hail.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles north and south of a line from 20 miles east southeast
of Glens Falls NY to 55 miles west of Elmira NY. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
