* Until 145 PM EST Thursday.

* At 738 AM EST, law enforcement reported flash flooding and water 
  rescues occurring. Two to three inches of rain have fallen since 
  yesterday. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing 
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, 
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

  Rome, Dalton, Calhoun, Lafayette, Summerville, Chatsworth,
  Ringgold, Trenton, Fort Oglethorpe, Rossville, Chickamauga, Trion,
  Varnell, Lookout Mountain, Eton, Tunnel Hill, Cohutta, Resaca,
  Plainville and Shannon.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two are possible in the warned 
area.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 145 PM EST FOR
CATOOSA...WESTERN GILMER...MURRAY...CENTRAL FLOYD...WHITFIELD...
WALKER...GORDON...DADE AND CHATTOOGA COUNTIES...

At 1100 AM EST, law enforcement reported that the heavy rain has 
ended and smaller creeks and streams are receding. Unfortunately, 
larger creeks and rivers are still rising and many roads remain 
closed. Over three inches of rain has already fallen but only an 
additional one-half inch of rain can be expected.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Law enforcement.

IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, 
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage 
         and low lying areas.

Additional rainfall amounts of one-half inch are possible in the 
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
