THE MIDLAND-ODESSA NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  MIDLAND COUNTY IN TEXAS

* UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT

* AT 930 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AND STORM SPOTTERS
  INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINS OVER MUCH OF
  THE WESTERN HALF OF MIDLAND COUNTY...INCLUDING THE CITY OF MIDLAND.
  MOVEMENT WAS EAST AT 10-15 MPH.

* SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED BY THIS FLASH FLOOD WARNING INCLUDE...   
  MISSION DORADO...VALLEY VIEW...MIDLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT...
  WARFIELD...GREENWOOD...SPRABERRY...COTTON FLAT AND MIDLAND

RAINFALL RATES OF 3 TO 4 INCHES PER HOUR WILL LEAD TO RAPID RISES
OF WATER IN DRAWS...DITCHES...AND OTHER LOW SPOTS PRONE TO FLASH
FLOODING. MANY STREETS IN MIDLAND ARE CLOSE TO IMPASSABLE FROM HIGH 
WATER.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS IN A FLOODED STRETCH OF ROADWAY...ABANDON IT
IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND. RAPIDLY RISING WATER MAY ENGULF
THE VEHICLE AND SWEEP IT AWAY.

DURING THE DARKNESS OF NIGHT...FLOODED SECTIONS OF ROAD MAY NOT BE 
VISIBLE TO MOTORISTS. SOME ROADWAYS MAY EVEN BE CLOSED.  DO NOT 
DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES!

PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PERMIAN BASIN...INCLUDING KMAF. GENERAL
ATMOSPHERIC DYNAMICS AND WINDS ARE LIGHT...THUS MUCH OF THIS ACTIVITY
IS BEING CAUSED BY NUMEROUS OUTFLOW BOUNDARIES FROM PREVIOUS
CONVECTION. THE LATEST IR SATELLITE ANIMATION SHOWS A RATHER
IMPRESSIVE SIGNATURE OF THE ON-GOING STORMS OVER ANDREWS...MIDLAND
AND ODESSA. OUR MAIN CONCERN FROM THIS ACTIVITY IS THE VERY HEAVY
RAINS THOSE STORMS ARE PRODUCING...AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. WE HOPE
NOT FOR A REPEAT OF ANOTHER DIRECT CG HERE.

FOR THE ON-GOING ZONES...MAY DROP POP NUMBERS FOR OUR SOUTH AND WEST
ZONES...INCLUDING SE NEW MEXICO...AS THE PRECIP COVERAGE THERE HAS
DIMINISHED. WILL LOOK OVER SATELLITE/RADAR TRENDS AND MAKE ANY NEEDED
