THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  930 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS
 
   ...SOUTHERN OSAGE COUNTY
 
AT 840 PM...DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO INDICATE A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
LOCATED 20 MILES EAST OF EMPORIA...OR OVER MELVERN LAKE.
 
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM HAD SLOWED DOWN ITS MOVEMENT AND WAS MOVING TO
THE EAST AT ONLY 15 MPH.  THE TOWNS OF OLIVET AND MELVERN ARE IN THE
DIRECT PATH OF THIS STORM.
 
BOATERS AND CAMPERS ON AND NEAR MELVERN LAKE NEED TO SEEK SAFE SHELTER
AT ONCE!
 
A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA.  REMEMBER
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES
