- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 28, 2014On Monday, January 27, a very strong arctic front moved through Central Alabama, bringing extremely cold and dry air to the area. Across the north, temperatures dropped through the day and into the 30's shortly after sunset.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Alabama, January 9 to 10, 2011As a low pressure system moved across the northern Gulf of Mexico on Sunday January 9th, moisture pushed northward into Central Alabama, interacting with cold air already in place across the area.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 29 to 30, 2010On January 29th, a cold, dry air mass was in place across northern Alabama around daybreak. At the same time, a low pressure system was developing along a quasi stationary boundary extending from southern Louisiana east through southern Georgia.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 10, 2025A shortwave trough moved into the Mississippi Valley by early January 10, with a surface low moving across Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Existing cold air across the northern half of the state supported snowfall, which occurred after 3 AM.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, February 1 to 3, 1996A winter storm brought a mixture of freezing and frozen precipitation to approximately the northern half of Alabama. A period of freezing rain followed by light snow brought traffic to a complete standstill across North Alabama.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 6 to 7, 1996A winter storm brought a mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and snow to the northern two-thirds of Alabama. Precipitation began as freezing rain and sleet but quickly changed to snow.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 28 to 29, 2014The third winter storm to impact the NWS Tallahassee County warning area in five years brought a wintry mix of precipitation to virtually the entire forecast area.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, December 18, 1996A snow storm that began in the early afternoon hours across the central sections of the state dumped 1 to 3 inches of snow on parts of the state. It was over by early evening. Schools and businesses let out early on the 18th across much of the area affected.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 28 to 29, 2000A mixture of sleet and snow started falling during the early morning hours on the 28th. Total average snow accumulations were 2 to 3 inches. The snow changed to mainly rain during daylight hours on the 28th but was occasionally mixed with freezing rain or sleet.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, February 16, 1996A winter storm brought 2 to 4 inches of snow to North Alabama once again causing travel problems and some power outages. Schools were forced to close in many counties due primarily to the travel problems created by wintery conditions.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 27 to 29, 2000A mixture of sleet and snow began falling in the late evening on the 27th. The heaviest snowfall occurred during the overnight hours. Snow accumulations were the highest the morning of the 28th, with an average of 3 to 5 inches across the area.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 10, 1997One to two inches of snow fell during a snowstorm that entered into northwestern Alabama before noon. It snarled traffic and icy roadways were blamed for dozens of accidents including two deaths due to cars skidding off roads and into other cars.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 28 to 29, 2000A mixture of rain, sleet, and snow began falling during the early morning hours on the 28th. Snow accumulations were rather light, with most areas receiving less than 1 inch. The exception was Clay County where some locations reported up to 2 inches.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, February 5 to 6, 2002A weak winter storm occurred across northern Alabama mainly during the early morning hours of February 6th. The precipitation began as rain during the evening of February 5th and changed over to a mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and snow just after midnight in many locations.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, February 12, 2010An area of low pressure moved across the northern Gulf of Mexico and passed to the south of the Mobile area. Heavy rain changed over to snow across portions of the central gulf coast as the low moved to the east.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Alabama, January 28 to 29, 2014An area of low pressure moved across the northern Gulf of Mexico January 28th and 29th. This system spread moisture northward across a very cold arctic airmass in place across the deep south.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, December 21, 2000Light Freezing Rain occurred during the early morning hours, resulting in a thin layer of ice on the elevated surfaces of bridges and overpasses. Reports of traffic accidents were received from several locations across Southwest Alabama due to the slippery road conditions.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, February 4, 1998A winter snow storm moved over the northeast part of the state early Wednesday morning. Snowfall totals ranged from 2-6 inches over the region. There were a few accidents due to slick roads.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, December 8 to 9, 2017A significant snowstorm impacted central Alabama on December 8-9. The snow began during the early morning hours on December 8th and continued for nearly 24 hours.|Within the main corridor of snow, totals of 4 to 8 inches were common, with a few swaths of 8 to 12 inches.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Alabama, February 11 to 13, 2014A strong arctic air mass pushed southward across much of the southeastern United States on Monday, February 10, behind a strong cold front, and temperatures struggled to warm into the lower 30s Monday afternoon across north Central Alabama.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, December 29, 1997A low pressure system developed in the Gulf of Mexico and moved ashore, bringing snow to the area. The snowfall began in the early morning hours in the western part of the state and moved to the east, ending by late morning.
- Winter Storm and Heavy Snow in Alabama, January 14 to 16, 2024An impactful winter storm occurred after the passage of an Arctic cold front on the 14th and an upper level disturbance and jet streak tracked east-northeast through the mid South and Tennessee Valley the evening of the 14th into the 15th.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 6, 1999A mixture of light rain, freezing rain, and snow fell across the area causing some icing problems. A maximum of two inches of snow was reported along the Alabama-Tennessee border.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Alabama, January 16 to 18, 2018Another winter weather event occurred across the area on the 16th into the 17th across the Gulf Coast. This marks only the 2nd time in recorded history that two measurable snow events occurred in one winter in Mobile.
- Winter Storm in Alabama, January 2, 2002A band of sleet and snow fell across the region during the early morning hours Wednesday. Most of the snow fell prior to sunrise, but continued until late morning on a more isolated basis in some locations.
